Dad was up early this morning next to the water with his fishing rod in his hand. Just as I had woken up and was enjoying my morning coffee, Mom and I saw him wave frantically and I had to run down with the camera (still in my pajamas and boots). He had caught a Tarpon (around 8-10KGs) and I managed to snap a couple of photos before he released it back into the water.

Dad also caught a few more of the Bottle Nose fish, and ended up gutting and cleaning these for dinner.

There were a couple of people on the beach at the resort, and we learned that these people are all from a nearby farm, where there are more than a thousand employees. They spend most weekends here at the resort to relax.

We also had some fellow travellers arrive in the afternoon and they stopped their vehicles just beyond ours in a clearing. One is a family (dad, mom and daughter) from Spain that have been travelling for two years, the other is an older lady by the name of Dot. Dot is from Zimbabwe and has travelled all the way from Europe in her van and come down all along the West Coast of Africa, mostly alone.

It’s always incredibly interesting to hear of other people’s travelling stories and what they have gone through and to know where they plan on still going.

We enjoyed a great meal, thankful to the fruits (fish) of Dad’s labour, and ended up sharing some with Dot while she told us stories of her travels.

After dinner, we packed our things away and crawled into bed.
