Dad was very successful once again with his fishing. He had caught a small King, which he used as bait for one of his fishing rods. He also managed to catch two decent sized Shads, which he cleaned and filleted for dinner. After Dad’s success, Mom also had her turn trying to fish for a while, but did not do so well.

The day was spent very peacefully, Mom and Dad fishing, and I read a book most of the day.

Dad and I had a swim in the morning. The water is incredibly clear, and there is a moment in the mornings where the sun has not yet risen over the peak, but manages to catch the water and bring out the most beautiful aquamarine colours in the water. I tried to capture this on camera, but it just doesn’t do it justice.

The water was cool, and very refreshing. We managed to spot many schools of fish swimming around in the swells.

I flew Dad’s drone for a few minutes in the afternoon, and managed to get some pretty good footage. The area is very isolated (apart from the locals on the far side of the bay) and really peaceful.

We sat by the fire in the evening, all watching the fish braai – I’m not sure if we were hungry or tired, or both. Dad had it on the fire and only added some lemon juice, salt and pepper and at the end a little garlic butter. I think it’s safe to say we ate like kings – the food was delicious.

After dinner, we went about the regular notions of cleaning and packing up so that the dew wouldn’t get everything wet, and went to bed with happy tummys.
